Emergency Procedures

Evacuation

The stairwells are considered emergency exits and are locked from the stairwell side for your protection. If you enter the stairwell, you will be unable to access the floors of the building and the only exit will be at the bottom of the stairs.

It’s imperative that the stairway doors are not propped or blocked open, which will impact the air conditioning system and create serious security and fire protection problems. During specific fire emergencies, the stairwells will automatically unlock to allow fire department personnel to traverse the building. Stairwells will remain locked during all other times.

Corridors should not be blocked with delivery items, electrical cords, boxes, trash, etc., as the corridors are a means of egress in the event of an evacuation.
